Description

After more than 6 weeks of clouds we had one night without any cloud. Seeing was fair, it was cold and dry. Perfect night for the horsehead nebula. The position in the sky is really good in january, though IC 434 will never rise more than 35° in my spot. Everything worked fine until i realized (while postprocessing) that a huge reflection of the spider came from the nearby bright star Alnitak. Damn. Don't know where this comes from? Version B shows the uncropped image where you can easily spot the reflection. There is another problem: My PI-skills are not good enough to reduce the noise in these large nebula-areas, so dont zoom in or you will see a lot of nasty noise :-(

Nevertheless i am somewhat happy with this image. I can learn a lot from processing it and i am sure i will add new versions in the future.
